Coach Montgomery originally hails from Rochester, NY. Prior to joining the United States National Team Development Program, Montgomery played AAA hockey with the Buffalo Saints and then spent a year in the OPJHL with the Syracuse Jr. Stars. While with the USNTDP, he represented Team USA in two World Junior Championships. He then went on to play one year at The Ohio State University prior to joining the London Knights of the OHL for three seasons. Montgomery then spent the next decade as a pro playing in various leagues including the AHL and ECHL.


- Played for US National Development U17, U18, and at the World Junior Championships (U18 and U20)
- U18 World Junior Championship Gold Medalist
- Played one season at The Ohio State University
- Drafted in round 4 of the 2006 NHL Draft by the Colorado Avalanche
- 9-year professional career including time in the AHL (Lake Erie Monsters and Oklahoma City Barons), Norway, Denmark, Slovakia, Italy, and the ECHL (Florida Everblades and Atlanta Gladiators)
