TPH Alum Chase Reid Enters Draft Weekend as the No. 2 Ranked North American Skater
As the 2026 NHL Draft takes center stage this weekend in Buffalo, TPH celebrates Team TPH OHL Cup alum Chase Reid as he prepares for one of the biggest moments of his hockey career.
Ranked No. 2 among North American skaters by NHL Central Scouting, Reid is widely projected by multiple outlets, including TSN and The Athletic, to be selected among the first few picks after establishing himself as one of the top defensemen in this year’s draft class.
The Soo Greyhounds alternate captain has become known for his elite skating, high hockey IQ, and ability to impact every area of the game. A smooth, two-way defenseman, Reid consistently controls pace, drives play in transition, and competes in every situation.
Despite missing time due to injury, Reid recorded 48 points in 45 games during the 2025-26 OHL season and represented Team USA at the 2026 IIHF World Junior Championship, further solidifying his place among hockey’s top prospects.
Before draft projections and international tournaments, Reid represented Team TPH at the 2023 OHL Cup. It was an experience, he says, that helped shape his development both on and off the ice.
“The OHL Cup was an amazing experience for me. I took away so many valuable tools during the time I spent with the coaching staff and the other players on our team,” said Reid. “The coaches for Team TPH were fantastic and knew the perfect way to coach and to bond the team together in the small amount of time we had.”
For TPH Chief Operating Officer and Team TPH OHL Cup Head Coach Francis Anzalone, Reid’s rise has come as no surprise.
“In my short time coaching and getting to know Chase, he just oozed “love for the game.” It has been very enjoyable watching Chase climb the hockey ladder since his time playing for Victory Honda and Team TPH at the OHL Cup. We feel very fortunate to say that Chase donned the TPH colors and we’re excited to see where his incredibly bright future takes him.”
Reid arrives in Buffalo as one of the most complete players in the class, built through years of deliberate work and high-level competition. His path reflects what TPH strives to develop in every athlete: independent, adaptable, and confident players prepared to succeed at every level of the game.
TPH wishes Chase the best of luck.
