Brady Rappuhn Named 2019-20 Mr. Hockey Winner
The Michigan High School Hockey Coaches’ Association recognized their best performers of the 2019-20 season on Wednesday with their annual awards banquet. Of all the awards, the Mr. Hockey award is the biggest of them all. The Mr. Hockey Award is given to the top player in Michigan high school hockey. This year that honor was given to Saginaw Heritage senior captain, Brady Rappuhn.
This season Rappuhn became the all-time leader in Heritage Hockey with goals, assists, points, wins including 89 points in just the 28 total games this season. Outside of his high school experience, Rappuhn has competed with the Michigan Hockey Advancement (MHA) program at TPH Detroit.
“Brady is a great player because of his ability to make the players around him better” Stated JJ Bamberger (Saginaw Heritage Head Coach/ MHA Assistant Coach). “He also had it within himself to rise up and score goals in important moments.”
Michigan Hockey Advancement Director, Rick Gadwa, talked to us what separates Rappuhn from other great players is his character.
“Yes he can score, put his team on his back, make things happen on the ice, but what makes Brady special is his coachability. Brady is the kind of guy any coach dreams about having on their squad; a true leader that has the unique ability of putting the team before himself.”
“There’s not a more deserving player in the state than Brady Rappuhn. He has a bright future ahead of him”.
Rappuhn was leading his team to another state semifinal appearance when the tournament was cancelled due to COVID-19. We want to congratulate Brady on all of his achievements he and wish him success moving forward.
