2008 TPH THUNDER OHL CUP TEAM DRAFT SELECTIONS!

“Thunder’s Kaminsky and Bernardi Selected in 2008 OHL Draft”

On Saturday May 3, 2008 the Ontario Hockey League (www.ontariohockeyleague.com) held it’s annual priority selection draft. TPH Thunder’s Jan Kaminsky was selected in the 14th round to the Belleville Bulls, while TPH Thunder Alumni Daniel Benardi from Atlanta, Georgia was selected in the 9th round by the Plymouth Whalers. In March, the TPH Thunder took an invitational team up to the OHL Cup in Toronto Ontario to compete in the prestigious event. Additional players selected in this years draft from the TPH Thunder OHL Cup team was Scott Howe (4th Round Belleville Bulls), Brendan McLeskey (5th Round Plymouth Whalers), Gabe Antoni (9th Round Saginaw Spirit), Jamie Hill (13th Round Belleville Bulls) and Garrett Allen (15th Round Peterborough Petes). “This is a very exciting day for Thunder Hockey and a continued reflection of our commitment to player advancement. Our players continue to be seen and are getting the opportunity to showcase their skills to scouts and recruiters at all levels of the game. The younger players coming up through the Thunder Hockey system continue to have additional doors opened for them by the great leadership, dedication and respect that our older players in the program continue to earn” commented Nathan Bowen, president of Thunder Hockey.

Last season the TPH Thunder OHL Cup team had 7 players selected in the OHL Priority Selection Draft, including Bjorn Krupp (2nd Round Belleville Bulls), Daniel Broussard (4th Round Sarnia Sting), and Daniel Bernardi (9th Round Belleville Bulls) all from Thunder Hockey. Krupp was later selected to play for the US Under 17 National Development Team Program in Ann Arbor MI. Daniel Broussard played for the LA Jr. Kings this past season, while Bernardi moved back to his Canadian roots to play Midget Major for the Whitby Wildcats in Toronto Ontario. “Last year these three young men set a standard for up and coming players from the Southeast and they have represented themselves, their families and Thunder Hockey very well this past season. All three will take their game to a higher level next season and it is because of their commitment to the game that they have earned these outstanding hockey opportunities. We will continue to support them all though they have progressed through our system and will continue to use them as positive role models for our younger players to look up to” stated Bowen.
